Release Blitz & ARC Review: Safe Bet by Monica Murphy

syn
Sydney Walker’s new job is perfect. As the live-in nanny to the most famous quarterback in the NFL and his beautiful wife, she couldn’t have it any better. Their kids are adorable. Her bosses are more than generous. Plus, there are hot football players at the house all the time. Life can’t get much better than this.

Until her life turns into an absolute nightmare. The media is abuzz with rumors that she and her boss Drew Callahan are having a torrid affair. Everyone knows the truth—except the public. So Drew’s wife Fable comes up with the perfect idea.

She creates a fake relationship between Sydney and one of the rookie players on Drew’s team. Wade Knox is forever indebted to Drew and Fable and readily agrees to the set up. Pretending to be in a romantic relationship with the hot nanny for a week—how hard can it be?

Crazy how it only takes one week for two people to fall head over heels in love…

(This mash-up new adult romance features characters from both the One Week Girlfriend series and The Rules series)

review
***I received this eARC as a gift in exchange for an honest review via the author
Safe Bet is the perfect book to warm you up on these blustery, cold winter days. Playful, flirty, and so inviting, you can sit back, relax, enjoy the fun, and imagine you’re laying out on the beach, sipping a cocktail.
The best thing about Monica Murphy is her ability to craft imperfect characters. They’re all flawed, they make mistakes, and they recognize that they’ve done it. Sometimes it eats them alive and other times it’s the push they need to get up and make something of their lives. Real characters, despite the outrageous storyline.
Wade is compassionate, determined, a player, but reformed. His love for his single mom, he’s a total momma’s boy and in some ways that super hot, that soft side.
Sydney is a reformed, rich party girl. She recognized how selfish and horrible she’s been and she tries to be better. That makes her beyond likable.
Safe Bet is a meet cute, sports romance with a little taboo-the hot nanny. It’s engaging, sexy, occassionally steamy, and a lot funny. The dialogue and banter between Sydney and Wade will keep you flipping pages, longing for more of them together. No matter the circumstances, the chemistry is undeniable. They fit together.
While the storyline wasn’t as solid as I hoped it would be, some points are brought up and then kind of fall out of the book, never addressed again, the romance made up for it.

A.G. Howard was inspired to write SPLINTERED while working at a school library. She always wondered what would’ve happened had the subtle creepiness of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland taken center stage, and she hopes her darker and funkier tribute to Carroll will inspire readers to seek out the stories that won her heart as a child.

When she’s not writing, A.G.’s pastimes are reading, rollerblading, gardening, and family vacations which often include impromptu side trips to 18th century graveyards or condemned schoolhouses to appease her overactive muse.
